Challenges before digitalization
Before adopting a digital solution, Auvray faced several major challenges. Manual process management resulted in significant time loss and operational inefficiency. Excessive use of paper documents slowed down operations, and the lack of responsiveness in invoicing, as well as the absence of effective customer tracking, complicated day-to-day management.
A first experience with Odoo 14
Initialement, Auvray avait collaboré avec un premier intégrateur Odoo pour implémenter la version 14. Cependant, cette première expérience n'a pas répondu aux attentes de l'entreprise. L'implémentation comportait de nombreux développements spécifiques, rendant le système très lourd et difficile à faire évoluer. De plus, avec son précédent partenaire, Auvray avait fait de nombreux développements sur mesure qui n'étaient pas utilisés, ce qui alourdissait inutilement le système.
Collaboration with Nalios
Looking to improve their system, Auvray turned to Nalios to evaluate the best strategy to adopt: migrate to a newer version of Odoo or start from scratch. After a thorough audit, the Nalios team recommended migrating to Odoo 16, removing unused custom developments and optimizing existing processes.
The migration process and its 75% of deleted code line
The migration started with a detailed analysis of the existing Odoo 14 instance. Nalios identified that many specific modules and developments were not in use, which made system maintenance difficult. As a result, approximately 500 redundant lines of code were removed, reducing the volume of custom code by 75%. The standard features of Odoo 16 have been preferred to replace unnecessary customizations.
Automation has also been implemented, such as sending SMS for quotes and interventions, appointment reminders, and managing the expiration of quotes. Existing modules, including CRM, sales, billing, on-site services, projects and accounting have been optimized to improve performance.
La migration s'est déroulée d'octobre à décembre 2023, avec un budget correspondant à environ 25 heures de travail.
Benefits after migration
After migrating to Odoo 16, Auvray has seen significant improvements. Automating customer communications, including sending SMS for appointments and confirmations, has reduced unnecessary travel and improved customer satisfaction. Billing has become more responsive, and quote management has been optimized with automated reminders and accurate tracking of expirations.
The removal of unnecessary custom developments has made the system more stable and easier to evolve. In addition, Auvray now benefits from the new features offered by Odoo 16, improving the overall efficiency of the company.
Looking forward
Currently, 21 Auvray employees use Odoo for their daily activities. The company plans to implement the inventory management module and continue to optimize existing processes. A migration to Odoo 17 is also being considered to take advantage of the latest innovations and features offered by the platform.
